About Sarah


Sarah’s background is in marketing, sales and strategy. A common thread in her 20 year career history is her passion for innovation and entrepreneurship. One of her earliest roles involved supporting the incubation, launch and spinning-out of a new software business. For several years she orchestrated tri-way partnerships between Ericsson, start-ups and telcos.


More recently, Sarah led Ericsson’s enterprise and government practice for Australia and South East Asia, driving digital transformation projects in industries such as utilities, transport and public safety. This was a role that Sarah and a colleague job-shared for 4 years up until the end of 2015.  During this time the pair were recognised as one of Australia’s Top 5 ‘Powerful Part Timers’.


In mid-2016, still as a part-timer, Sarah was appointed to the Ericsson Australia & NZ Executive Team, reporting to the CEO.  As Head of Innovation she leads company-wide business and innovation strategy, including programs for co-innovation, intrapreneurship and innovation capability transformation.  In 2019, Sarah was named as a finalist in the Women’s Agenda Leadership Awards.

In industry, Sarah sat on the Executive Council of the IoT Alliance Australia (IoTAA) for 2 years.  She currently serves on the Advisory Board of In2science, a STEM peer mentoring program that places university student mentors into low socio-economic high schools throughout Victoria.  She is also on the Industry Advisory Committee that drives the strategic development of the RMIT School of Management.


As a side gig, Sarah is a Founding Director at Umps, an early stage start-up providing smart technology to empower older people to live safely and independently as they age.  Umps is an alumni of multiple leading Australian start-up accelerators: the Melbourne Accelerator Program (MAP), the Foundation for Young Australians Social Pioneers MedTech Program, and the Remarkable Disability-Tech Accelerator.


Sarah is also a public speaker on diversity & inclusion (D&I), innovation and the future of work.  She became a vocal advocate for D&I and challenging traditional notions of work and job design when she returned to work after becoming a mum. Sarah is Chair of Ericsson’s Diversity & Inclusion Council, and mentors a number of women in the technology industry.
